Amazing Education Interns

Hands-on internships are part of the summer experience at the Amazeum. College students interested in education professions intern at the Amazeum to discover new methods and techniques as well as experience the power and possibilities of providing students with learning activities grounded in making and tinkering.

Meet Hannah Burgess

Hey everyone! I am a senior at John Brown University studying Family and Human Services. This summer, I am super excited to be expanding my skill set by working with the Scott Family Amazeum as the Early Childhood Intern!

Meet Hannah Thesing

Hey everyone! I am so excited to be working with the Scott Family Amazeum as a summer programs intern.

Meet Maggie Williams

Hi! My name is Maggie Williams and I am going to be a sophomore at the University of Arkansas this fall. I am majoring in Human Development and Life Sciences to become a Child Life Specialist one day.

Meet the Maker: Acadia Kandora

Makers, artists, and creatives are fascinating to talk with. While everyone has a story, and is often willing to tell it, makers not only tell, they show. Each maker’s story begins not with a blank slate, but on one etched with life experiences. Their story unfolds with visual aids of their own making adding depth and richness to the narrative. A recent Maker in Residence at the Scott Family Amazeum, Acadia Kandora, is a case in point. As a print maker, she creates in a medium that couples images born from imagination and experiences with words to tell her story.

Playfully Impulsive Activity

Large-scale, interactive art installations at the Scott Family Amazeum UnGala FUNdraiser bring a unique opportunity for the Northwest Arkansas community to experience the creativity of makers and artists from throughout North America. The 2021 UnGala was no exception. Unlike previous year’s experiences Life Size Mousetrap, and Hand of Man, created by individuals, Impulse represents a collaboration between the arts and sciences, architects and engineers that created an opportunity for collective, interactive play at the perfect time.

Meet the Maker: Chase Young

Makers in Residence at the Scott Family Amazeum bring diverse skill sets and backgrounds with them when they arrive. Chase Young, who lead sessions in the Workshop on molding and casting, is no exception.

2020 Hindsight, 2021 Vision

Happy New Year! And good riddance to 2020. Like most of you, we had a vision for 2020 that blurred significantly around March when we temporarily closed to support efforts to contain COVID-19.
