Amazeum Celebrates 4 Years of Interactive, Family Fun
Mix, Mash, Birthday Blast Features Creative Activities for Families
BENTONVILLE, Ark. (July 1, 2019) —The Scott Family Amazeum invites families to join them in celebrating its 4th Birthday on Monday, July 15, from 10 am to 5 pm.
Keeping with tradition, Mix, Mash, Birthday Blast features special hands-on activities throughout the day to help celebrate the occasion. Guests can make “cookies” from homemade playdough in Kookie Kitchen, design and build a Birthday Kaleidoscope, create “pop” art with bubble wrap and paint, and play launch and catch with the Trebu-yay outside in the outdoor Playscape. Guests turn their creativity loose decorating a giant cake built from corrugate and cardboard with various types of frosting experiments. After all the activity, enjoy a cool treat from Fitz’s Snowballs
Preparations for the party begin on Wednesday, July 10, when guests to the museum can help flair three piñatas that will be part of a chain reaction piñata drop between 4:15 and 5 pm on July 15. The Amazeum closes at 5 pm on Monday, July 15.
In the four years since opening on July 15, 2015, the Amazeum welcomed over 1,000,000 guests of all ages to experience hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) activities, special exhibits and events. Nearly 6,000 individual and family members are part of the Amazeum family. Thousands of students explore the Amazeum during Unfield Trips each school year and hundreds of children make an Amazeum camp part of their summer.
Amazeum accessibility programs provide free admission for one out of every six guests and hold down the true cost of admission for the more than 225,000 people who visit the museum each year. Over 20,000 families attended the museum during Priceless Nights on most Wednesdays from 4 to 7:30 pm when guests can choose to make a donation in lieu of paying admission.
More than a children’s museum, the Amazeum provides experiences designed for adults as well as children and families. Saturday, October 5, the Amazeum hosts Tinkerfest, a one-day festival celebrating makers, artists, tinkerers, craftspeople, educators, and creatives for a day of DIY (do it yourself) fun and learning. Throughout the year, adults are invited to give their inner child a night out during adult nights. Each spring, the Amazeum’s UnGala FUNdraiser raises money to support continued access to high quality, STEAM-learning experiences for families throughout Northwest Arkansas.
The Museum’s Maker in Residency Program brings diversely talented makers, artists, educators and creatives to the region to collaborate with the Amazeum team in creating unique interactive experiences for the community. Over the past year, six Makers in Residence joined the Amazeum team for extended periods resulting in two public art pieces, enhanced experiences in the 3M Tinkering Hub, and augmented programming for guests to the Amazeum. This program supported by the Walton Family Foundation.
