Amazeum Celebrates 3rd Birthday July 15

July 26, 2018

Special icky, sticky, gooey fun planned for children and families

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (July 2, 2018) —The Scott Family Amazeum invites families in Northwest Arkansas to join them in celebrating its 3rd Birthday on Sunday, July 15 from 1 to 5 pm. Time flies when you’re having fun learning about science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM)!

The Amazeum team created some especially messy activities to celebrate. Giant bubbles, gobs of Oobleck, and water rockets are planned activities for the day. At 3 pm, a few guests will be selected to re-create an especially messy chemical reaction first seen at the Amazeum’s groundbreaking. What’s a birthday party without ice cream? Our friends at Unilever will be providing free ice cream for guests while supplies last.

In the three years since opening on July 15, 2015, the Amazeum welcomed over 805,000 guests of all ages to experience hands-on STEAM activities, special exhibits and events, and 87,700 adults and children from pre-school through high school participated in Unfield Trips. Thanks to a grant from the Walmart Foundation, 65,000 students in Benton and Washington Counties experienced an Unfield Trip at a reduced cost. Over 5,500 individuals and families are members of the museum. Hundreds of children make an Amazeum camp part of their summer and school break.

Amazeum accessibility programs provide free admission for one out of every six guests and hold down the true cost of admission for the more than 200,000 people who visit the museum each year. Over 20,000 families attended the museum during Priceless Nights on most Wednesdays from 4 to 7:30 pm when guests can choose to make a donation in lieu of paying admission.

More than a children’s museum, the Amazeum provides experiences designed for adults as well as children and families. Each October, the Amazeum hosts Tinkerfest, a one-day festival celebrating makers, artists, tinkerers, craftspeople, educators, and creatives for a day of DIY (do it yourself) fun and learning. Throughout the year, adults are invited to give their inner child a night out during specially-themed adult nights. Each spring, the Amazeum’s UnGala FUNdraiser raises money to support continued access to high-quality, STEAM-learning experiences for families.
