Experience Auto Racing on a Small Scale

Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™ Exhibit Provides Hands-on Experience in Race Car Development

Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™ exhibit presented by Mattel opens at the Scott Family Amazeum Saturday, January 27, 2018, at noon. Admission to Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™ is included in daily admission or membership.

Northwest Arkansas families get an all access pass to the behind-the-scenes process of designing, developing, testing and re-testing involved in auto racing as they experience Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™. Race fans, car enthusiasts, and fans of Mattel’s Hot Wheels® of all ages will love this interactive exhibit created by the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Each area of the exhibit introduces families to a different aspect of vehicle development. Artifacts and interactives allow families to design and test each facet of the engineering process. Hot Wheels® cars are used in a dynamic testing environment that takes guests through the process racing teams follow to build the fastest, safest and most precisely engineered vehicles in the world.

“We are excited to host this exhibit at the Amazeum, especially since it’s the 50th anniversary of Hot Wheels®,” said Sam Dean, Executive Director. “Nearly everyone has an experience with Hot Wheels from childhood, but probably didn’t think about the deep-learning experience they were having in the process. This exhibit presents science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts through a familiar and engaging vehicle that most of us have already experienced. Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™ makes key STEAM concepts relatable and understandable.”

The 4,000 square foot Hot Wheels Racing Garage contains four areas that take families through a different aspect of real-life race car design and testing. The garage and trackside environment of the exhibit simulates the work racing teams do prepare and compete on race day in stock car, open wheel, and drag racing.

Each of the four areas: design, power, speed, and safety contain real-life artifacts and hands-on experiments using Hot Wheels® cars to test the effect of different body styles and engine/fuel combinations on the speed the car can generate on the track. In each area, families learn the key STEM concepts through immersion in interactives and displays.

Hot Wheels™: Race to Win™ runs from January 27, 2018 to April 29, 2018.
